There are hardly any manufacturers left that actually produce headphones in Germany. Beyerdynamic maintains a respectable manufacturing operation for its wired products, while the electronics come from Asia. We also continue to build headphones diligently in our manufactory, although the structure today is different from in earlier times.
Batch sizes have increased, but the frequency of production runs has decreased. This allows us to absorb rising costs without compromising on quality or accessories. While there are occasional supply shortages, we would rather sell out than unnecessarily inflate our inventory.
There are fascinating concepts internationally for even more efficient distribution and manufacturing, and we in Germany and Europe should consider whether there is something we can learn from them.
In any case, there will soon be fresh stock of the Signature MASTER MkII and Signature FUSION, as well as—available in Europe for the first time—the Signature FUSION Open Back and the winter headphones Signature PURE White.
At the moment, however, the Signature PURE inventory is at ZERO, and this version will not return to the market in its current form. So look forward to an exciting, brand-new PURE arriving in the second quarter of 2025.
But many more things are coming in this still very young year. As a small preview, there will be a special surprise because ULTRASONE is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. For us, that is more than just a reason to celebrate—it will also be honored with a very special pair of headphones.
But for now, it’s back to the manufactory, because every hand is needed to ensure that these valuable headphones reach customers as quickly as possible.
My opinion on this:
I am very much looking forward to the new year. We will see many interesting developments, and there will be beautiful, innovative products in all price ranges. And manufacturing in Germany—when structured efficiently—is still a very good thing!
