It’s all over—but now it’s time to return the items. Which brand is being returned more: Beyerdynamic or Sennheiser?

25 December. The Christmas dinner has been enjoyed, the presents have been inspected—and Easter is already just around the corner!

Now it’s time to tidy everything up quickly and prepare for the lines of gift returns tomorrow. There are no current, specific figures on how many Christmas presents are returned or exchanged in Germany.

However, earlier studies suggest that around 10 to 15 percent of gifts are returned or exchanged.

And of course, there is no information on whether more people want to return their Beyerdynamic or their Sennheiserheadphones—although it might more often be the Sennheiser, since it is generally positioned more strongly in the consumer segment.

In recent years, shopping behavior during the Christmas season in Germany has continued to change. According to a survey by the management and technology consultancy BearingPoint, people in Germany spent an average of 566 euros on Christmas gifts this year, which represents an increase of 30 percent compared to the previous year.

In addition, a study by FOM University shows that planned spending for Christmas gifts in Germany averages 507 euros, with older generations tending to spend more than younger ones.

These figures could influence the number of exchanges, as higher spending and changing consumer behavior might lead to either more or fewer returns. However, the high proportion of online purchases could potentially have the opposite effect.

My opinion on this:

Personally, I haven’t gone to a store to exchange a gift for at least twenty years. In our household we give fewer, but carefully chosen gifts. But as many people know, I’m not really a fan of excessive consumption—neither in business nor in private life.

What matters is putting real thought into the right gift when you want to give one. And of course, choosing something high-quality and durable—for example ULTRASONE.

And even better than any material gift is spending time together and enjoying moments of calm and peace.
