Beyerdynamic is proud of its latest flagship model, the Beyerdynamic T5 3rd Generation. It now offers, at an additional cost, the option of balanced operation via XLR or 2.5 mm jack. The headphone also features a special arrangement of the drivers, which once again demonstrates that the off-center sound radiation promoted by ULTRASONE with its S-Logic system for more than 35 years is indeed the right approach for achieving superior sound. It is encouraging to see this idea gaining wider recognition.

Beyerdynamic presents its flagship model as follows:

Acoustically optimized and featuring a new, attractive design, the high-end T5 is now available in its third generation. Thanks to its closed-back design, the T5 is particularly suitable for use in louder environments, and its low impedancemakes it easy to connect to mobile devices.

The T5 uses Beyerdynamic’s Tesla drivers, which are individually measured and carefully matched in pairs to guarantee the highest level of sound precision and natural reproduction.

The special driver arrangement also ensures an exceptionally spacious sound image, placing the music on a virtual stage—much like a live concert. (See above regarding S-Logic – author’s note.)

To ensure optimal signal transmission, the T5 features detachable cables made from high-purity OCC 7N copper. Additional potential for sound optimization is offered by optional balanced connection cables.

Further features include comfortable, replaceable memory foam ear pads with synthetic leather and a decorative metal badge on the exterior.

My opinion on this:

Let us take a look at what the ULTRASONE Signature MASTER MkII has to offer:

A gold-colored metal badge is also present, along with the original S-Logic 3 technology from its inventor. The high-precision driver, individually measured and pair-matched and featuring a titanium coating, performs at least on the same level. Its linear, highly detailed frequency response with a subtle bass lift is unlike any other in the world.

Memory foam ear pads are also included—however, in this case they are covered with genuine leather, just like the headband pad. The Signature MASTER MkII additionally features the new FGC technology, designed to improve wearing comfort.

Where the two products truly differ is in their accessories. With ULTRASONE, a premium case is included as standard, along with all cables—including the modern 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector instead of the older 2.5 mm variant. The cable itself is silver-plated to ensure optimal sound performance.

And finally, the price:

With comparable features, the Beyerdynamic model is priced at around €1,050.

The ULTRASONE Signature MASTER MkII, however, is available for just €699. 🎧
