Many people associate eBay with bargains and attractive deals—but also sometimes with questionable offers.
In this particular case, however, we do not want to warn about fake products. The headphones being offered are indeed genuine ULTRASONE products.
The surprising part is something else:
They are often almost €100 more expensive than the same headphones in our own online shop.
What’s Behind the Higher Price?
A closer look reveals the explanation.
These listings ship the product from Japan.
What does that mean in practice?
We sell the headphones to a retailer in **Japan, and that retailer then sells them back to customers in **Germany.
Of course, it is nice to see international demand for our products—but from a sustainability perspective, this round-trip across the world makes little sense.
And naturally, such a process cannot be offered at the same price as purchasing the headphones directly from us.
Shipping and Import Costs
The price difference can largely be explained by international shipping costs from Japan back to Germany.
On top of that, there may also be:
customs duties
additional import fees
Both of which could increase the final price even further.
