Why am I actually in the music business?

It was in the last millennium, more precisely in 1985, when I moved to Munich and began my first course of studies. At the ZHS, the Zentralen Hochschul Sportanlage, I enthusiastically played volleyball three to four times a week and what had to happen, happened. Teams formed that wanted to play together again and again, and I repeatedly found myself on a team with a true ball artist who had no equal.

His name? Florian König.

A friendship developed that continues to this day, and of course Florian also told me about his love for Italian music. At the time, together with his brother, he owned probably the largest record collection of Italian artists in Bavaria, so that even Bayerischer Rundfunk – still a good customer of ULTRASONE to this day – repeatedly borrowed items from him when they could not be found elsewhere.

In 1988, Florian had the brilliant idea of how to properly bring music to the ear through headphones. The prototype from that time can still be seen today in our museum.

After that came the patenting, the founding of ULTRASONE, and the presentation of the first headphone called HFI-100 (Headphones For In-front localisation).

I already helped him back then by creating graphics and even helping to build them, and I fell deeply in love with the sound of these devices so early on that my DT-880 gathered dust in its box.

However, it took until the year 2000 for Florian and me to officially start working together and push ULTRASONE forward.

And I have experienced a lot during these years. Meetings with the absolute superstars of the industry, customizations for artists, new developments inspired by artists. And I would like to thank everyone for their loyalty and for the experiences I was allowed to share with them.

Of course, it also helps to make music yourself in order to better understand the industry. Florian is a keyboard player, I sing with great enthusiasm, and all musicians around the world share the same passion.

Music is the only art and the only medium that is understood worldwide. You do not need to understand the lyrics; the composition, the melodies, and the harmonies carry emotions across the entire globe.

When a lady from Korea begins to cry while listening to the St. Matthew Passion, you understand that only music is capable of achieving something like this.

And everyone who is able to experience this carries that emotion within themselves and becomes part of one big family.
