When a Simple Email Turns Into a Major Innovation Project

At ULTRASONE, however, we receive a large number of emails every day. And the reality is that 99% of them are simply not worth the time required to read them.

Spam, scams, marketing offers, or wildly unrealistic ideas dominate the inbox—often asking whether we might be interested in “the next big thing.”

Filtering the few meaningful messages from this flood of emails is therefore a significant challenge.

What Makes a Good Pitch

One thing that definitely helps is realistic communication.

Messages that avoid exaggerated promises and unrealistic dreams immediately stand out. Presenting an idea as “the single most important innovation of the last hundred years” rarely increases credibility.

Interestingly, our two most recent major projects began with very modest and carefully formulated inquiries. Those conversations eventually led to outstanding products.

And to be clear: this is not about simple health data, such as the metrics collected by devices like smartwatches. The technology developed by our partner goes far beyond that.

Our partner has created a solution with the potential to significantly change the future of healthcare. We are extremely proud to contribute our headphone technology and expertise to this project. Both sides see enormous potential in this unique combination.

From First Contact to Partnership

Like many good partnerships, this one also began with something very simple: an email that sparked our curiosity.

Our reply led to additional information about the project. A subsequent conversation confirmed for both sides that there was real potential for a meaningful collaboration.

The first personal meeting reinforced that impression, and shortly afterward we signed a preliminary agreement, marking the official start of the project.

Today, the products are fully developed, and our partner plans to present them publicly in autumn 2025.

My Perspective

Choosing which emails to respond to is one of the most important steps in building successful partnerships.

Everything depends on the quality of the pitch. It needs to be:

  • Realistic

  • Clear and understandable

  • Focused on genuine differentiation

  • Free from exaggerated promises

When these elements are present, the chances of receiving a response increase significantly.

One more important note: ULTRASONE typically works on a maximum of two major collaboration projects per year. That means there is often a waiting list—unless a concept is so convincing that we decide to add it immediately.
