The market is indeed very dynamic and seems to be evolving faster and faster, which creates both opportunities and challenges for manufacturers and consumers.

The continuous development of technologies such as Bluetooth, noise cancellation (ANC – Active Noise Cancelling), and integrated smart features leads to new and improved products being introduced to the market on a regular basis.

Consumers are always looking for products with better performance, greater comfort, and additional features, which encourages many manufacturers to introduce new models frequently.

Headphones have also become a fashion accessory, meaning that aesthetics and brand image play an important role. This has led to shorter product life cycles, as consumers often want to replace their headphones more frequently.

The intense competition in the market forces most manufacturers to differentiate themselves through regular product launches. Fortunately, there are also brands like Meze, ourselves, and a few others that do not follow this approach.

These factors lead to a market that is constantly evolving and consumers being confronted with new products on a regular basis. This can be exciting for technology enthusiasts, but it can also lead to an overload of options, making decision-making more difficult and increasing the environmental impact.

My opinion on this:

With ULTRASONE, we have ignored some trends and set others ourselves. For example, we invented the dynamic luxury headphone, as well as the high-priced headphone in the mobile market. We ignored wireless headphones for a long time, as well as most Bluetooth developments. However, we have tested many markets and continue to do so.

The products that are now being launched faster and faster and at ever shorter intervals—sometimes by previously unknown manufacturers—have only confirmed my view. We create timeless products. Short-term design or color variations aimed only at a few months do not carry our brand logo.

Our upcoming products—including some in the wireless segment—will also be timeless. More than ever, in fact, because we are small enough to grow without having to follow every trend.

Personally, that gives me a good feeling. In an ideal case, a pair of headphones lasts for decades, can be repaired, and provides enjoyment for a long time. And only then does it truly do something good for the planet.
