My opinion on this:
They are becoming increasingly popular—headphones that attempt to create immersion using Dolby Atmos or similar technologies. I never tire of emphasizing how human hearing actually works and why this effect works best with our S-Logic technology. I do not entirely understand why Sonos did not follow the path taken by some other companies and make use of our expertise in the field of immersion.
Electronically generated spatial sound only works halfway. With S-Logic, however, immersion works perfectly through the integration of HRTF (head-related transfer functions of the outer ear). Integration into the Sonos network is certainly nice, but it only benefits Sonos users. Otherwise, the product is expensive and largely comparable to what already exists on the market. That is why the price reduction does not surprise me.
