As a true veteran of the industry, a visionary and pioneer, perhaps the finest ear in the music industry over the past 40 years, an Italy and music enthusiast, and above all a truly wonderful person and dear friend—you have not only profoundly influenced my life, but also the lives of many thousands of enthusiastic fans of your original invention, which through you became the best and only true sound in headphones. Most of them have never turned away from it again.
Our shared journey began in 1985—next autumn it will be 40 years.
Even back then you were a virtuoso—not only on the volleyball court and with every other ball, but also musically. I have had the privilege of accompanying your entire professional development, with all its challenges and all its highlights. We traveled together, we built things together, developed ideas together, spent countless nights thinking things through. We were like a good married couple, always there for one another.
These are values that are rarely found today.
And even more rarely does one find a friendship like this when considering how different we actually are as people. Without student sports—and later the remarkable headphones—we probably would never have come together. And that would have been a great loss.
There are so many anecdotes that still make us smile, laugh heartily, or shake our heads in amazement when we think about them.
And without S-Logic, I would never have come up with the line in 2001 that was meant to differentiate us from SONY and its legendary slogan “It’s a SONY.”
