Teufel positions itself in the mid-to-upper price range and competes with established premium brands like Sony and Bose, which also frequently run similar promotions. To remain competitive, Teufel therefore relies on regular special offers, which naturally affects price stability.
For customers, this means it can be worthwhile to wait for discount campaigns, as Teufel often offers price reductions on selected products rather than maintaining a consistently stable pricing structure.
My opinion on this:
That is not our approach at all—and certainly not a model of respectful treatment toward customers. It may work for aggressive growth and market cannibalization, but it is not how we operate.
We price a product carefully, based on its value. And yes—of course it bothers us when competitors allow their prices to collapse, because that makes our products appear very expensive by comparison.
It becomes particularly absurd when unknown or even well-known manufacturers simply source products from China, have them labeled with their brand, produce a few thousand units, and then sell half of them online at attractive prices with significant marketing support. They earn enough from those sales to cover their costs and then gradually reduce the price to a bargain level. This process can be repeated four to twelve times per year, depending on the brand, significantly increasing their sales volume.
However, this also frustrates many customers, who eventually stop buying products at launch prices. We are already seeing this behavior with companies like Apple, where many customers now choose to buy the previous or even the second-to-last generation of devices.
At ULTRASONE, prices usually remain stable and are rarely—if ever—changed. Of course, sometimes you might find a discontinued model at a lower price when a successor is about to be released. But that is and remains the exception.
